club history

Founded in October 1952, Ballymoney Rugby Football Club is now established as one of Ulster’s leading Junior Clubs. Ballymoney currently fields 5 adult teams, offering players opportunities to play at all levels of Junior and Minor rugby. A bridging Under 19 senior team is in its first year and has made an excellent start to its existence.

A strong Youth Section with Under 17, Under 15 and Under 13 teams has developed from excellent
work at Minimaxi level (age 8 – 11) where more than 150 boys and girls enjoy a
structured introduction to our wonderful rugby family.

Our newest development has been the introduction of a Ladies team which is this year exploring the potential for ladies rugby in our area.

The club’s Youth coaches have as their main aims, the encouraging new players to try rugby and assisting existing players with their game and skills development.

We are rightly proud of our history and have produced youth players who have been chosen to represent Ulster and Ireland. Senior players have played for and captained the Junior Ulster side, two have gone on to play for the Senior Ulster side and one played in the World Cup finals in Ireland. Not bad for a small junior Club!
