In this conference league match at Malone, Ballymoney used the opportunity to have a look at a few promising players. Kenny McAneaney continued in the squad at hooker, and Matthew Pollock got his first run out at scrum half. Pollock would look to bring his sniping game in attack and his eager defence, which has even seen him cover in the back row this season for the second XV.
Tries came from Adam Smith, Cormac McCartney, and Rory Strang, but all to no avail in the end. The Malone side proved a strong outfit, and despite all good intentions and a lot of good play, Ballymoney ultimely lost out 41-21. Focus now shifts to the Boxing Day Derby at Coleraine, with both sides knowing that a result on the day could mean an awful lot in terms of where the second half of the season plays out.
