Ballymoney 3XV get the better of local Rivals Armoy 1XV
On Friday night the Riverridge sponsored Ballymoney 3XV got their season off to the perfect start
with a four try victory over local rivals, Armoy 1XV.
First half tries were scored by Matthew Johnston from short range and back row Alfie Clyde who galloped down the wing and tip toed around the opposition fullback. These scores came off the back of good continuity and ball security from the home side, as the visitors discipline struggled to hold.
The second half saw another two tries added by the home side. Number 8 John Richmond powered his way over from the base, before a good run from wing Matthew Bell set up 3XV veteran, Neil Campbell, who supported well. Cormac McCartney converted three of the four scores from difficult Angles.
After the match team manager John Hunter commented efforts madeat preseason are now starting to pay dividends. A much refreshed and strengthen 3rd XV will be looking forward to an exciting season ahead of them. We wish them well and I look forward to working alongside the guys this year.
