On Saturday the Causeway Geotech /JKC BMW sponsored Ballymoney made the journey to Lisburn with a win a priority as the hunt for a league playoff place intensifies. With Lisburn fighting for points at the other end of the table , Ballymoney could not take anything for granted with Lurgan only a few points behind in the table.
Daniel Ramage returned to the side at no 8 whilst in the backs Aaron Gervais started at 10 with Lewis Murphy making his long awaited return from injury .
The toon started strong and were rewarded with a try inside the first five minutes .A scrum outside the 22, ball moved out to Marty Irwin at 13 , skipped past a few tackles to score in the left hand corner , John Laughlin missed the conversion . Ballymoney 5-0 .
On 16 minutes , Ballymoney doubled the scoring , scrum on halfway , the ball was driven up the field , Ballymoney happy to build the phases , a ruck outside the 22 led to Matthew Steele feeding Nealers Mulholland off his inside shoulder with a lovely offload and the veteran lock galloped through the gap to score the try of the game below the posts and with Laughlin adding the conversion , the Toon now led 12-0.
Lisburn regrouped and on twenty minutes were awarded a harsh penalty try . Lisburn attacked down the left hand channel and midway within the 22, hooker Joel Heggarty was deemed to hold back the attacker before making the tackle as he made his way to the line and was sent to the bin before the referee indicated the penalty try was awarded .
Laughlin added to his score with a penalty on the half hour , Lisburn penalised for offside just inside their 22 , Ballymoney now leading 15-7 .
The third try came during the last play of the half , another dominant scrum led to big Lewis Murphy making a strong break before feeding Daniel Ramage and with Laughlin adding the long range conversion , the toon went into the half time break in a comfortable position , 22-7 to the good .

The bonus point try was secured early in the second half , a quick tap penalty taken by Steele was worked out to Irwin who scored his second of the game when he crossed over in the corner .
With big Matty Blair held up over the line , from the goal line drop out , Mulholland attacked down the left before drawing in the defence and feeding Ramage , who added to his score with another try.
With the points secure , Ballymoney completely switched off and Lisburn battled hard , some more indisclipine led to another yellow card for Steele and Lisburn capitalised as the Toon scrum fell apart and Lisburm 8 scored to narrow the deficit .in the dying minutes another poor scrum lad to the home side being awarded their second penalty try . This was to be the last play with Ballymoney coming away with a 32-19 win which was much tighter than it needed to be .
After the game , coach Young was delighted to get the bonus point but was disappointed by the way Lisburn came back into the game late on .” Obviously please with the five points and I felt we were really good for the first 60 minutes but with the result secure we let the home side get back into it , almost similar to our last away trip to Larne .However the five points were secured , which was the most important thing heading into our last league game of the season were we need to beat Coleraine to ensure a top four spot .A big week in training is imperative as our accuracy needs to improve against Coleraine “
