Narrow defeat to CIYMS

On Saturday, JKC/Causeway Geotech were back in league action where CIYMS were the visitors to the Kilraughts Road.

Before kick off, both sides stood for a minutes silence as Ballymoney remembered Club stalwart Toss Skelton, who sadly passed away recently.

In a poor first half for the home side, a big CIYMS side took a 19 point lead into the break, conceding 3 tries.

Second half started better with a try from Matthew Pollock kickstarting the fightback with Andy Young converting. Marty Irwin scored a second try midway through the half narrowing the deficit but a CI penalty meant the Toon needed two scores to win with the score now 22-14.

A further try from Jonny McMullan gave the Toon hope however after constant pressure in the last 5 minutes Ballymoney couldn’t get over the line giving the visitors a double over the Toon with the score finishing 22-19.

“Very disappointed with the result and performance today“ said Andy Graham “We gave them too big a lead in the first half where I felt we had been as poor as we’ve been all season. Our second half performance was too little too late unfortunately to get the points. We need to up our game as we travel to Ballyclare on Friday night so we will work hard on the training pitch this week to write a few wrongs as we hope for a top half finish in the league.“
