JKC/ Causeway Geotech sponsored Ballymoney 1st XV welcomed visitors Enniskillen to Kilraughts Road with the home side making their first appearance in the Town’s Cup semi final in over a decade. With Enniskillen defeating the Toon in both League fixtures, they knew they would have to be at their best to defeat Skins to progress to the Easter Monday final at the Kingspan .

Enniskillen started brightly and took the lead with a converted try inside first ten but Ballymoney narrowed the gap when Aaron Gervais kicked a penalty and midway through half kicked a second penalty narrowing gap to 7-6 .

Two trays in quick succession gave the visitors a 21-6 lead as several errors by the home side led to the visitors taking full advantage however just before half time constant pressure by Money was rewarded when skipper Will Scott powered over the line leaving score at half time 21-11.

Two Enniskillen penalties early doors stretched their lead further but the Toon hit back with try from Daniel Ramage and another from Will Scott took the game to 27-25 .

With Ballymoney now pushing hard for a winning score a penalty was conceded and the Skins kicker slotted over the penalty .Skins defence thwarted the advances of Ballymoney to hold out for a narrow 30-25 win where they now face Ballymena in the final .

“Hugely disappointed to lose the game today , “ Chris McIlmoyle said after the game “ The preparation over the past weeks has been good and we knew Enniskillen are a top side and we had to be at our best however we came up short . Credit to them and best wishes to them in the final however we had the chances to win the game but errors cost us today but the effort from these guys has been astounding this season.when we review the season we’ll be proud of how far we’ve come this year but it’s a hard pill to swallow now as Enniskillen were very beatable today and we couldn’t just get over the line but again awesome effort from the 20 man squad today .

We have 3 tough league games left so a top 5 position is still up for grabs so that is our focus now until the end of the season.Big thanks to all who were out supporting the team today , appreciate all the support.”
