Playing into a gale force wind, the first half was always going to be a struggle for the toon men. 5 minutes in after a knock on advantage, bangor got a lineout 5m out from the Ballymoney try line, they mauled successfully and went 5-0 up. Conversion was missed.

Ballymoney tried to get back in the game, but gave away too many penalties, ill discipline resulted in Lewis Hawthorne receiving a yellow card. Down to 14 men, the Toon men responded well, David Hodges now playing at 9, spotted a gap and scored from 5m out. He kicked the conversion to make it 7-5 to Ballymoney.

With Lewis back on, Ballymoney turned the screw, a goos break by David Mckeeman resulted in him passing to Alfie Clyde, who ran in from 20m to make it 12-5, conversion was missed.

Second half began with Ballymoney trying to make use of the wind, the started well and Jack Dowey, who had some excellent carries throughout the game, burst through 3 tackle and executed a 2 on 1 to put Lewis Hawthorne under the posts. Conversion was kicked by Hodges to leave the scores 19-5.

Bangor responded well and put the money men under severe pressure for the last 20 mins, they scored with 10 mins to go to make it 19-12. Ballymoney got reduced to 14, with 5 mins to go but managed to hold out with some excellent defending. Much praise must go to Lewis Hawthorne making his debut for the seniors and scoring a try to top it off.
