Ballymoney 2nd XV played hosts to Dungannon 2nd XV on a sunny Saturday afternoon on the Kilraughts road. Having enjoyed a week off last week the Toon men were keen to get going, however conceding a try early in the game assured the boys that this would be no easy task. Following some good play from Dungannon, another try was secured taking the score to 12-0.
Money's scrum held firm and created problems for the visitors. After a scrum and a quick ruck, Matthew Blair took a pick-and-go and dived for the line shortly followed by another Dungannon try leaving the score 19-5 to the visitors at half time.
The second half didn’t quite go the way the Toon men would’ve liked, with Lewis Henry receiving a yellow card, this created space for another Dungannon try. Defensive mistakes were proving costly for the home side with Dungannon slotting 2 more times, however Ballymoney fought until the very end with a try from a thundering run from Jack Alexander. The next try came from the dynamic duo coming off the bench with George McAuley cutting through the defensive line and Harry Orr coming on strong on his outside to take the offload and score the last points of the day. Full time result 38-17
2nd XV Captain Jason Clyde said after the game “It was a tough day at the office today. Mistakes and errors were slipping in, and Dungannon capitalised on these. They took their chances well and we missed a few of ours; there's a few things to work on before our next game this Saturday home to Banbridge.”
