Having 4 fixtures on the first weekend was always going to be a tough call further downthe club, and so it proved this week. Neil Campbell managed to eventually find 15 players to get together, but when introductions and handshakes are part of the warm up, it's always going to be tough. When the opposition are trying to lay markers down to get into the 1st XV, we knew this would be a tough fixture.
But - the scoring was patchy, as Ballymoney eventually found some structure for phases, and put together some possession of their own. Dee's scoring came in a burst at the start of each half, and then some of the rust got shaken off. A mention must go to Chris Emerson, who dominated his side of the scrum, and Andy Macnaugher, filling in tenaciously at scrum-half.
Next week will see Instonians visit Kilraughts Road, which should be a good test for the 3rd XV.
